Railway zonal office to commence operations in October: MP Sribharat

Fulfilling a major aspiration of Andhra Pradesh, MP Sribharat Mathukumilli has announced that the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zonal Office will soon become operational at the VMRDA Deck building.

The decision represents significant progress in the establishment of the much-awaited SCoR Zone. He released a press note after discussions with officials from South Coast Railway and VMRDA. “The operationalisation of the South Coast Railway Zone at the VMRDA office is poised to begin by October. This development marks a crucial milestone in our ongoing efforts to deliver world-class rail infrastructure to the region.”

He emphasised the strategic benefits of the newly allotted space, noting, “The SCoR Zonal Office will offer seamless communication facilities and is advantageously located adjacent to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office, enabling better coordination and streamlined administration.”

The recently designated office covers 41,500 square feet across the 6th and 7th floors of the VMRDA Deck building, providing ample space to accommodate all critical administrative wings required for a modern, efficient railway zone. Officials are optimistic that this initiative will invigorate the infrastructure and economic landscape not only of Visakhapatnam, but also neighboring districts.

Expressing his gratitude, Sribharat lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for their relentless support and vision and reiterated their unwavering commitment to ensuring the timely and effective rollout of the South Coast Railway Zone, a development that is set to boost both regional growth and connectivity.
